Microsoft Windows 10 Gives Parents Automatic Weekly Update On Kids’ Online Activity
The report will include what sites children have visited, how many hours they have spent online, including time on apps.
The feature was first noted by concerned parents after updating the software.
In an email to Boing Boing, one customer wrote:
“This weekend we upgraded my 14-year-old son’s laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10.
“Today I got a creepy-ass email from Microsoft titled ‘Weekly activity report for [my kid]’, including which websites he’s visited, how many hours per day he’s used it, and how many minutes he used each of his favorite apps.”
The feature can reportedly be disabled by going into ‘Family’ section in the account’s settings.
However, a number of people said the default settings ran a risk of accidentally outing young children.
